Juniors Classes
Pre-teen and teen Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — competitive-ready training and an anti-bullying toolkit.
The Juniors program at Gracie Barra Boynton Beach is designed for children ages nine through thirteen — the age group where Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training starts to take on real athletic dimension. Students in this class are not beginners finding their footing. They are developing practitioners who train with intention, receive detailed coaching on mechanical errors, and are held to a technical standard that prepares them for the adult program when they are ready.
Instruction at the Juniors level covers the full range of BJJ positions with increasingly sophisticated technique: guard passing with multiple layers, back attacks and defense, leg entanglement entries, and competition-oriented combinations. Drilling in this class runs at a pace that demands focus and physical effort. Positional sparring and live rounds are a regular part of the session structure, giving students the experience of applying technique under real resistance — the only way to know whether a technique actually works.
Professor Sergio Costa and his coaching staff pay particular attention to competitive students in the Juniors program who want to test their skills outside the school. Gracie Barra competition team preparation is available for Juniors-age students who want structured coaching toward IBJJF kids and juvenile divisions or local Florida tournaments. Not every student wants to compete, and the program fully supports both competitive and recreational practitioners.
Parents of Juniors-age students typically see the program's impact most clearly in the non-martial-arts areas of their children's lives — a willingness to do difficult things consistently, the ability to manage frustration without giving up, and a physical confidence that was not there before. These are not accidental outcomes. They are what happens when young athletes are held to a real standard over time. Call (561) 739-8934 to schedule a free trial.
